Guided Tour

After following the Lilydale Road from Launceston for 18 kms turn right into Whites Mill Road. The Centre can be found 500 meters on the right at number 50 where the green rolling hills of the Lilydale valley can be viewed.

The weathered Tas Oak building blends beautifully into the natural bush surroundings.

The entrance holds displays of some of the current activities the Centre is being used for and information about up coming events within our area. This is also the storage area for additional seating and six large tables. On the left hand side of the hallway is the administration office, to the right is a large art room equipped with benches, sinks and a central table.

The large timber lined kitchen allows for easy catering for large or small groups. Rain water is used exclusively throughout the Centre. There is an electric oven, two microwave ovens, two fridges and also a wood fuel stove for cooking. The antique pine shearers table can easily accommodate ten.

The large main hall is carpeted and has electric fan heaters, ceiling fans and a warm cosy atmosphere with its timber lined walls, large picture windows and cathedral ceilings.

The hall is spacious enough to accommodate up to 50 people comfortably, and up to 80 for concerts and conferences (seated). Toilet facilities are also available in the hall. Informal conversation areas with lounge chairs can be arranged in a variety of settings, ideal for workshops or discussion groups.

One of the main features of the hall is its beautiful stained glass window of balloons in flight, created by a local artisan especially for the Mt Arthur Centre (when the Centre was used as a family school). Beneath the balloons and through all windows, lovely views of the surrounding countryside can be seen.

Outside the main hall is a lawn area, covered pergola, bbq and ten picnic tables with benches. An outdoor 'wet area' art room is situated here as well. One of our current projects, the straw bale room can be viewed from this area.
